WEST CREEK DUATHLON & 5K – The Live Red Foundation

The West Creek Duathlon & 5k consists of a variety of races for all ages from youth to adult. The races includes adult/junior non-draft and draft-legal duathlons, a youth duathlon, and a 5k for all ages. All races are held on a multi-loop course that is closed to vehicular traffic. To celebrate this early-season winter race, you can look forward to a fire pit, smores, hot chocolate, and food trucks on top of a great, fun day of racing. All LRF events fund our free fitness programs which teach life skills to low-opportunity communities.

The Venue

The race will be held at West Creek in Goochland, VA. For GPS, please use address 12575 West Creek Parkway, Henrico, VA 23238 but all vehicles will enter and exit gate 4 (closest to the lake). Please refer to the venue map.

The Events

5k Run – The 5k course is a relatively flat and fast 1-loop course in beautiful West Creek where runners will have the full, closed road without any concern of vehicular traffic. All ages can participate!

Adult/Junior Duathlon – The adult/junior duathlon course for ages 13+ to adult will include a 1/2 mile run (1-loop), 7.2 mile bike (4-loops), and 2.5k run (2-loops). The entire course is on a closed loop free of any vehicular traffic. You will have the option to race in a draft-legal category with a road bike, the non-draft category with a triathlon or road bike, or both!

Youth Duathlon – The youth duathlon course for ages 12 and under will include a 1/2 mile run (1-loop), 3.6 mile bike (2-loops), and 1.25k run (1-loop). The entire course is on a closed loop free of any vehicular traffic. The youth race will be draft-legal though participants can choose not to draft.

11:00 am – 3:30 pm: Packet Pick Up
11:30 am: Transition Opens
1:00 pm: Junior/Adult Draft-Legal Duathlon
2:00 pm: Junior/Adult Non-Draft Duathlon
3:00 pm: Youth Duathlon
4:00 pm: All Ages 5k

After your race, hang out with your fellow racers around the fire pit and enjoy smores, hot chocolate, and food trucks with us!

USAT Sanctioned & Chip Timed

This event is USA Triathlon sanctioned and will count towards USAT rankings. Race age is determined by age on 12/31/2024 for the duathlon and 2/25/2024 for the 5k. All events are chip-timed for precise results. Learn more about USAT rules at https://www.usatriathlon.org/multisport/rules

Registration

Registration will open Nov 27, 2023 at 9am. Race swag (t-shirt) is not guaranteed for anyone who registers with 2 weeks of the event so register early. All duathlon participants must purchase a one-time USA Triathlon membership which is required for all USAT events, but youth under 18 years old can use promo code “LiveRedyouthRD” for a free membership.
