Go the Distance

In 2021, Founder Michael Harlow decided to see how far he could push the limits of his endurance to raise money for Live Red. He ended up running 50 miles in one day and raised $12,000 for our programs. Coach James Crabb also took up the challenge and ended up swimming 20 km to raise $6,000!

This year, we want to extend this challenge to our community. How far will you go for a great cause? Join us this September to find out…

The Impact

We are so close to reaching our goal of being in all 22 low-opportunity neighborhoods in Richmond by the end of this year. The only thing holding us back is lack of funding. By participating in Go the Distance, you are directly benefiting the kids of Richmond by providing Live Red Foundation the means to provide FREE fitness classes. We are asking you to go the distance, and help have a positive impact on the future of the Richmond youth.

The Event

Date – Saturday, Sep 17, 2022

Location – Robious Landing Park, or location of your choice

The What – Choose an activity and endure for as long as you can from 7am-5pm. Examples include: running, walking, swimming, biking, spinning, rock climbing, hiking, strength training, rowing, spinning, triathlons, or anything else you can think of! From 4pm-5pm that day, we will have a “Kid’s Power Hour,” an hour long activity for children led by a Live Red Coach.

The How – Invite friends, family, and others to make pledges based on how long you endure. You can get donations for time spent exercises, miles covered, or laps completed. You can participate as an individual or join forces with friends as a team!

The After-Party – Join us for food, music, a silent auction, and recognition of those that raised the most money! Even if you cannot participate, we hope you will join us for the afterparty to support Live Red Foundation.

How to Fundraise

Encourage donors to contribute one-time donations to Live Red Foundation in support of YOU “Going the Distance.”  If you or someone you know wants to make a one-time donation to Live Red Foundation, the best way to do that is using our PGA Birdies for Charity program link found here. Our participation in this program will match 10% of any donation made to Live Red Foundation.  So please channel one-time donations here.  It is extremely important when making a donation to indicate the following in the In Memory/Honor Of Section: “Participants Name”: Go the Distance.

Create a personal fundraising page.  Creating a personal fundraising page is fun – for you and your donors!  You can add pictures and update your donors on your training, fundraising progress, and other relevant information to your event. Your donors can make donations and pledges directly to you using your personal fundraising page. If you would like to create an online fundraising page and ask friends and family to donate, click here.  Follow the instructions on the “Register Your Team” tab to create a page for yourself or your team.

 Collect & Manage Donations Yourself.  If you would like to collect donations yourself, download the sponsor sheet and ask friends, family, and businesses to sponsor you.  Once you have collected all of your donations, submit your donations here.
